The sky at night

Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas has unveiled SKY, an overwater observatory and luxury cocktail bar, complete with resident Sky Guru and the most powerful telescope in the region.

Guests lie on a circular daybed, sip champagne and gaze at the stars while resident astronomer Shameem helps them spot the yellow rings of Saturn or the counter-rotating zones and belts of Jupiter. The Maldives lies just above the equator, and with such minimal light pollution, over 15,000 stars can be observed by the naked eye.
