The impact of Brexit: no time to waste

The impact of Brexit – deal, no deal, interminable status quo, political uncertainty and its impact on the aviation community is a real and immediate issue.

We have been working with clients over the past two years, anticipating all varieties and outcomes. Many clients have already restructured in anticipation of the UK leaving EASA. Some have chosen to wait and see with Plan B ready in the background. It is quickly becoming too late if you are likely to be affected by Brexit.

Consideration needs to be paid to aircraft ownership, finance and operation if the UK withdraws from EASA. Licences granted by the UK CAA to pilots, operators and maintenance facilities need to be assessed for impact post Brexit to ensure operations can continue seamlessly. Aircraft imported through the UK or Isle of Man should now be reviewed as it is likely the UK will withdraw from the customs union. Waiting until March to see what happens is quite frankly leaving it too late.
