50 YEARS OF ROYAL OAK INNOVATION

When the Royal Oak was released back in 1972, its octagonal bezel and hexagonal screws were like nothing seen before.

Designed by trained jeweller Gérald Genta, the Royal Oak gave rise to a full-fledged collection with new sizes, materials, styles and movements appearing over the years. Model 5402 (pictured) brought the fine watchmaking industry to new directions in 1972 with its body of hand-finished steel that safeguarded the world’s thinnest self-winding movement with date indication of its time.
