EMBRAER: LIFE SAVER
The Brazilian aerospace manufacturer’s purpose-built Medevac Phenom 300MED receives FAA and EASA Certifications.
When it comes to medical emergencies, no other form of transport can evacuate a sick or injured person as quickly or efficiently as a private jet. The use of private jets for medical evacuation or air ambulance services is nothing new and these services are typically used to transport patients who require urgent or specialised medical care and are unable to travel by commercial airline. That’s not all though, as private jet medivac can also be used to transport donor’s organs, or transplant teams to and from the site of a transplant surgery.
By far the main advantage of private jet medivac is the ability to provide a faster, more direct route to the destination, as private jets are not subject to the same restrictions and delays as commercial airlines. Additionally, private jets are equipped with advanced medical equipment and staffed by trained medical professionals, allowing for high-quality medical care during transport.
The 300MED recently received its Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and is specifically designed for special missions. Based on the manufacturer’s best-selling light jet, the 300MED, created in partnership with umlat and Aerolite, is the most comprehensive Medevac solution available today. Aircraft features include a best-in-class altitude of 6,800ft (meaning an easier, more refreshing flight experience — which is essential for patient care and less stress during flight), the fastest speed and longest range in its category, high mission flexibility, plus low operating cost. Whereas medevac-specific features comprise a purpose-built interior with an exclusive Oval Lite design that provides more head and legroom than a conventional cross-section, and maximizes space for the inclusion of necessary medical equipment.
Top class Medevac: The Phenom 300MED is one of the most comprehensive Medevac solutions available today.
Private jet medivac is also significantly more expensive than commercial air ambulance, and is often not covered by insurance. In addition, private jets are not equipped for the same level of medical care as ground ambulances or helicopter air ambulances. However, the imminent launch of Embaraer’s Phenom 300MED – a unique Medevac solution for the 300 series aircraft addresses many of these challenges.
The cabin itself has space for two stretchers and four seats and a spacious baggage compartment that is specially heated to provide ideal transport for items sensitive to extreme low temperatures. All surfaces, cabinets and equipment were specially constructed using lightweight materials and robust surface coatings with a high tolerance for the use of professional cleaning products. This consideration lends to easier and more effective cleaning between flights, as well as increases the longevity of the interior through years of critical life-saving missions.
Special missions: However unique an operation, Embraer’s innovative mindset delivers a disruptive solution with top-ranked support to match.
“We are pleased to announce the certification of the Phenom 300MED by the FAA and EASA,” said Marsha Woelber, Vice-President of Worldwide Executive Jets Customer Support & Aftermarket Sales, Embraer Service & Support. “The Medevac solution provides superior value, benefiting from a market-leading product such as the Phenom 300 series, combining its unique capabilities with a fully-comprehensive medical solution.”
The 300 MED will be operated by the launch customer, on-demand charter operator Grandview Aviation.
