GLOBAL 8000: FLAGSHIP FOR THE NEW ERA
With its new flagship Global 8000, Bombardier has created a true high performer.
Bombardier has unveiled its Global 8000 aircraft, the world’s fastest and longest-range purpose-built business jet. The introduction of the 8000 adds another ultra-long range model to the Quebec manufacturer’s portfolio, and with it comes a number of performance and cabin innovations.
CABIN WELLNESS
Private jet owners and operators can set their own rules when it comes to the cabin atmosphere. Smoking was/is a modern private advantage, as commercially, lighting up was prohibited commercially back in 2000. However, passenger wellness is now a big part of our industry. If you’re traveling thousands of miles for a meeting, then you want to arrive as fresh as you boarded. The Global 8000 features the healthiest cabin in the industry, with the lowest cabin altitude in its class of 2,900 feet when flying at 41,000 ft. Your average commercial airliner has a cabin altitude of around 8,000 feet at a slightly lower ceiling and more oxygen in your system means landing alert and ready for business (or pleasure). Bombardier’s Pũr Air and advanced HEPA filter technology help keep the cabin air clean and fresh while filtering in fresh air quickly and efficiently.
Four personalised suites, all ergonomically designed to maximise space and freedom of movement allow guests to stretch their legs, while the 8000’s Nuage seats offer the industry’s first zero-gravity seating position. While reclined in the Nuage, the angle of the foot, back and headrest work in conjunction to reduce lower back pressure, improve blood flow, support the neck and provide optimal weight distribution, all of which allows passengers to take advantage of the 8000’s range.
“The Global 8000 aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era. We remain unmatched, which for an innovation-focused team like us, is great.”
RANGE AND SPEED
The Global 8000 aircraft is the only true four-zone cabin business jet to have a range of 8,000 nautical miles. This industry-leading number is matched by an unbeatable top speed of Mach 0.94, unlocking ultra-long-range city pair possibilities, such as Dubai to Houston, Singapore to Los Angeles and London to Perth, among many others. Interestingly, during speed testing, Bombardier used a NASA F/A-18 support aircraft and repeatably achieved speeds in excess of Mach 1.015. During the demonstration flight, the aircraft also became the first Transport Category airplane to fly supersonic with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
CONCLUSION
Fast, frugal, and with luxury levels only a dedicated business jet can provide, the new Bombardier flagship will change the way we fly. Thousands of new city pair possibilities will open up once the 8000 enters service in 2025, with Éric Martel, Bombardier’s President and Chief Executive Officer commenting at its unveiling: “Bombardier solidifies once more its position as the leader in business aviation with the newest member of the industry-leading Global family. “The Global 8000 aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era. We remain unmatched, which for an innovation-focused team like us, is great.”
The 8000’s development is ongoing, and as for current Global 7500 operators, the incredible performance enhancements on the Global 8000 will be retrofittable when the aircraft joins the market.
