WINCH DESIGN: REFRESHED. REFURBISHED. REBORN

Winch Design’s total transformation of a 10-year-old Global 6000.

Essentially a rebrand of the Global Express XRS, Bombardier’s Global 6000 is an efficient, high-performance, and comfortable ultra-long-range large-cabin jet that just happens to be 13 years old now. At its launch, the 6000 featured the new Bombardier Vision flight deck along with a flexible wing with a 97.5 lb/sq ft loading – the highest amongst its competitors. Over 315 Global 6000s were delivered by March 2019, before the unveiling of the Global 6500, and the aircraft is still available for purchase today, albeit for military/medevac/Head of State use. It does however, underscore the 6000’s longevity, making it the ideal airframe for a refresh.

Transformed

At its launch, the 6000 featured a safe/ traditional cream leather with a contrasting high gloss veneer cabin. All very stylish back in 2011, but for 2024, this particular Bombardier has been treated to an extensive refurbishment courtesy of Winch Design. The project has transformed a ten-year-old business jet into a unique contemporary masterpiece, both inside and out.

Eye-catching exterior

Starting with the pearl white base, the design team at Winch have created a bold exterior livery with metallic teal-coloured stripes turning to solid colour at the wings. The dynamic design is reversed at the T-tail giving an impression of speed, even when parked on the tarmac. For such a relatively simple design, the two-tone colourway completely transforms the 6000’s styling – out on the tarmac, this Bombardier’s fresh look can hold its own against any brand-new jet.

Fully reimagined: The interior was completely stripped out and all of the components were sent to F-List in Austria to be remade. The cabinetry was wrapped in a foil imitation of real wood, a technology that has improved to the point where it looks and feels like authentic wood grain. Every other part was resurfaced with new materials, including the headliner and walls, along with new carpeting and remodelled seating.

The white and blue colurway of the 6000’s exterior has been carried over into the cabin, as light, neutral-coloured leathers form the base of the interior palette.

Cabin refresh

The white and blue colourway of the 6000’s exterior has been carried over into the cabin, as light, neutral-coloured leathers form the base of the interior palette. Teal can be found in the cushions as well as the wave-like pattern in the hand-tufted wool carpet. The carpet’s colours are reflected in the stitching on the leather inlays of the tables, while the wave-like pattern continues across the upper side walls and ceilings, adding depth and character to the space.

Light, neutral-coloured leathers, straight-grain walnut timber, and gold almond metal accents form the base of the interior palette. The Aft Lounge bulkhead features bespoke marquetry of colour-tinted burr whilst the mid and forward bulkheads are treated as vertical 3D slatted screens of light wood and mirror, providing privacy and transparency.

The aircraft refurbishment was completed under the watchful eye of operators AllianceJet.

Jim Dixon, Managing Partner and Creative Director, Yachts & Aviation concludes: “The Winch Design team thoroughly enjoyed the fast turnaround of this bespoke interior and exterior refit and we are delighted with the striking end result.”
